Testing & Scoring

Expectations

Students are graded on a number of criteria for rank advancement. Some ranks have specific milestones that are needed in order to be achieved. Some of these milestones are mentioned in classes, others are tracked by instructors. Students that are having difficulty with these milestones will be aware of it.

Tang Soo Do Testing & Scoring

Students are expected to perform the curriculum items focused on during the current season at a high level. They will also be asked to perform all material they have learned previously. Students testing for Green Belt will be tested on ALL the material covered in the White & Orange Belt school student manual. Students testing for Red Belt will be tested on ALL the material covered in the White & Orange Belt and Green & Brown Belt school student manuals.

Below is a list of items that students are scored on during the testing week. Each item is scored on a scale of 1-5. Student Submission

Students are expected to sign up for testing if they wish to test to their next color belt level. By submitting the form, you are stating that you are the student (or parent/guardian for those under 18 years of age) and agree to be examined by Resurgence Martial Arts instructors for the purpose of rank promotion. Rank promotion tests have fees associated with them and are expected to be submitted at least two weeks before testing. Intent to Test open and close dates are posted each season. Links for the Intent To Test forms are posted in the Spark Member app and in email announcements for students.

Submitting an application for testing does not guarantee a passing result and a new belt. All questions regarding the testing procedure or account status should be communicated before submitting an intent to test application to prevent additional confusion during testing week.
