Hello students and parents! Summer season is upon us! As we move into June, our weather is finally getting warmer and we are seeing more of the sun! Students are reminded to take time to practice their skills at home. Coming to class should be time for refinement and learning; time at homes should be for repetition, remembering, and building good habits.
The following are some important dates to remember. Each announcement is tagged with a program to help our members know which items are most important to them. Don't forget to check our Class Schedule as well as in the school for class plans, announcements, and schedules.
Encourage your student(s) to know dates important to them so they are able to set goals appropriate to their progress. Seasonal curriculum for Tang Soo Do including dates for important classes are posted on the whiteboard by the front desk as well!
- Jul #kigong Chisholm classes with Mrs. Wickstrom will continue via Zoom Tuesdays and Saturdays at 9:00am. Contact her for the Zoom invite.

- Jun 29 #haidong #tangsoo Intent to Test form opens in the Spark Member app. If you have a color belt and want to test for the next level color belt, you must have this form submitted by Jul 26 or you will not be eligible for testing. If you have problems finding the form, talk with Mr. K!
- Jul 15 #haidong #tangsoo Several of our instructors will be travelling for the World Championship (see below). Thanks to some of our black belts and travel schedules that worked out well, classes will be held at the normal times.
- Jul 16-19 #tangsoo 2026 World Championship will be held in the Chicago area at Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center! This is a great opportunity to go to the world championship without needing to fly or drive across the country to the east coast. Come be part of a great experience to meet other martial artists your age and rank during competition, participate in some of the pre-competition clinics, and maybe enjoy a day at Six Flags with the group! Check the registration link for more information. The main championship hotel is already FULL! The WTSDA has released information with additional hotel options.
- Jul 26 #haidong #tangsoo Intent to Test form due in the Spark Member app. If you have a color belt and want to test for the next level color belt, you must have this form submitted by the end of the day or you will not be eligible for testing. If you have problems finding the form, talk with Mr. K!
- Aug 11 #tigers Tiny Tiger summer season testing. No Tuesday class on Aug 18- plan to attend promotions.
- Aug 14 #tangsoo There will be a school black belt pretest at 6:00pm. In order to be eligible for black belt testing, you must complete at least one of these sessions with a "ready" score. This is an opportunity for advanced red belts, blue belts, and all black belts to get feedback on their progress. There will be at least one visiting master for this session.
- Aug 15 #tangsoo A regional instructor training session will be held at our school from 12 noon until 4:00pm. Black belt instructors are encouraged to participate. These sessions are for training and questions on material and procedures for your rank progress. Instructors from other schools travel for these sessions, so it is also a great way to train with them where you are all a student.
- Aug 16 #tangsoo #haidong #cce #tigers Our annual picnic will be held from 12 noon until 4:00pm. Those of you are would like to bring concessions should arrange with me by the end of July. Drinks, snacks, dishes, burgers, hot dogs- anything is currently on the table. There will be yard games and fun like past years as well!
- Aug 17 #tangsoo Color belt testing will be happening in class on this day. We will start at 4:30pm as normal, and will go until all material has been graded (usually before 5:45pm). New white belts should all attend to be graded. Students that have color on their belt will be graded if they had submitted the Intent to Test form before its deadline.
- Aug 18 #tangsoo #tigers Color belt promotions for all tang soo do students and tiny tigers. Belts will be awarded, board breaking will happen, a group photo will be taken. ALL students are encouraged to attend to support those that have tested (and to break boards and be in the photo).
